My Nannybot deactivated today since the free 3 day battery ran out, for some reason the deactivation reminded me of robot movies like AI, Surrogates, iRobot and many more where robots were so involved in human everyday lives to the point where humans become desensitized and removed from their everyday normal life. Kind of like what Pet Society does to us! So if my Paborito already does that to me, does the Nannybot bring back a little subsistence to my life? Well not enough for me to purchase another battery.
For those who don’t know, the NannyBot was released in Pet Society just recently, it’s a robot that cleans, feeds, and plays with your pet 24 hrs a day. In other words, your hygiene, happiness, and health meters will always be at the highest levels automatically. There is a catch however, the bot needs a battery to run, a battery that can only be purchased via playfish cash. Pet Society gave everyone a free nongiftable, non recyclable, non eatable battery as a gift type trial run, however you still had to buy the nanny of course at a meager 400 coins. To buy a replacement battery would cost you 5 cc’s at the Cash Shop. With the recent acquisition by EA, do you think we’ll be seeing more of these pay for play type items? I myself bought the nannybot to try it out, it was only 400 coins which is cheap for obvious reasons (my Elvis shades cost me 1300, how can shades cost more than the nannynator?) I’d say the best thing about this bot is you don’t have to worry about feeding your pet. The hassle of going to the Food Store and purchasing 20 apples, heading back home and just sitting and watching as your pet devour 5 or so to bring him back up to speed gets tiresome after awhile. It was a nice luxury, logging in to Pet Society seeing my pet’s health at full status. The cleaning and playing I don’t worry much about, anyway I never bathe my pet in hopes of him pooing a golden or rainbow poo someday (still hasn’t happened). Would I pay the 5 CC’s to have this luxury for 3 days? I don’t think so, if the nannybot was able to clean and play with other pets and earn me coins at the same time heck yeah. If I were to buy something with real money at the Cash Shop it would be something with status value, I mean that’s the reason we all play Pet Society is to show off your wares. The nannybot does none of that, it just tells players that you bought a nannybot for 400 coins and are shelling out 5 cc’s just to have it wash, clean and feed your pet for you. For now my nannybot will start collecting dust and be decor in one of my lonely undecorated rooms, too bad you can’t use her as a bookshelf.
What are your thoughts on Nannybot?

I agree, it’s hard enough to make money in Pet Society, having the Nannybot wash and scrub our pets for us takes away 2 of the few ways we can make money!

It became useless after the free battery runs out. I don’t have playfish cash to buy one.

Neither do I
Playfish cash costs money I don’t have.

my opinion of the nannybot is that it is cute & helpful if you make visits and your pet is slowing down and someone else has it but an absolute waste of points & money. i would not plunk down any cash for something that does not last. paying for something that lasts for three days is a waste, especially in this economy.
honestly, i wish i could sell or gift or recycle my free battery but i am thankful that the site gave them to us. it was nice of them although unnecessary.

I bought the nannybot and don’t plan on using it in the future, I can give it to you if you want to try out your battery, then you can gift it to someone else who wants to do the same. PM me on facebook.

Mainly, I agree with your post, Paborito. Just one question: Does the nanny have an interesting recycling value? I haven´t tried that yet.
November 19th, 2009 at 5:25 am
Hi Asies, remember to determine the recycling value of an item, just multiply the store price x 2, since the nannybot is 400 coins in store, you will receive 800 recycling points when you recycle it. As a side note, to check the resell value of an item, divide the store price by 3, eg. a 999 item would cost 3000 coins if it was available in store and the Nannybot would resell for 133 coins.
